Monogrammed Truffles
Looking for something a bit fancier than cookies to personalize for your guests? Truffles and cake balls are the perfect goodie to give your guests! You don’t have the variety of shapes, as with sugar cookies, but they’re easy to drop in a mini box and not too filling if your guests have already indulged in lots of savory foods at the party. Once you’ve picked your favorite truffle or cake ball recipe, make a batch of Royal Icing (recipe below). Fill a large plastic bag with a batch of icing. Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and pipe monogram letters onto the truffles. Allow to dry. Royal icing becomes very hard when dry so your letters will not smudge.
Packaging Ideas
Place a cute tag on your party favor to add another personalized touch! Take it up a notch by using decorative edged scissors to cut around the message. Punch a hole in the top corner and string on with ribbon. Make your own by using graphics online and adding your own text over it to personalize the tag.
One of my go-to tips as a hostess is a cellophane bag tied with colorful ribbons. You can pick up cellophane bags in the gift wrap or baking aisle of your local craft store or buy bulk online so you always have plenty in stock. Fill with your cookies, cake truffles, doughnuts, or other sweet treats and tie with a simple ribbon. Wa-la! All set for easy favors.
Want something a bit more elegant? Opt for mini boxes, and choose a color to match your party. Hosting a backyard cookout? Pick a natural or tan color with red checked ribbon and fill with initialed cookies. Or pick a silver box filled with chocolate truffles and white ribbon for a wedding reception, engagement party, or anniversary! You get the gist: Fit the box and ribbon to your theme!
