The ultimate sandwiches are, without a doubt, panini.
The thing I love about panini (singular for panino, or Italian bread roll sandwich) is that they are easy to make and the list of ingredients you can add to create them is endless!
You can make breakfast panini (think egg, ham, and cheese), lunch panini, and even dessert panini (Nutella, banana and a light whipped cheese). Yum!
I decided to make these appetizer panini out of three of my favorite ingredients: apples, Brie cheese (I could eat Brie all day!), and sweet grilled onions…so good!
These are small enough to be consumed in just three bites and have your guests definitely asking for more!
I have to give props to my panini maker because it grills them to perfection! I use the Breville Panini Press and I’ve been so happy with it! It almost makes it too easy to eat panini morning, day, and night! Check out this how-to guide from Pillsbury for making super-easy panini.
So let’s get started. Bake your Pillsbury Crusty French Loaf bread per the instructions.
Grill onions with butter until golden brown.
Thinly slice the apples into small pieces and the cheese into rectangular wedges.
Slice the bread into 12 pieces and butter one side of each piece.
Place three apple slices, two pieces of cheese and a tablespoon of grilled onions on the bread. Then top with another piece of bread.
Place them on the panini press and grill for about five minutes, until the cheese is melted and the panini are golden brown.
Set on a tray to serve to guests! Enjoy
