Jelly shots have quickly become a party staple. Impress your friends by making sweet-looking layered shots.
We’re not quite sure who came up with the idea of jelly shots. Whoever they are, wherever they are, we’d like to thank them for coming up with this inventive way to simultaneously enjoy dessert and catch a buzz.
At your next gathering, take the jiggly trend one step further by making a layered variety with your own flavor combinations. Lime and cherry; watermelon and grape; lemon and strawberry; or even a crazy amalgam of all the flavors you can find – the world of layered jelly shots is your oyster.

(Speaking of oysters, you may want to inform your guests on the proper way to take one of these babies down: Run your tongue around the inside of the cup to loosen the shot, then just let the fruity, boozy goodness slide down your throat.)
Begin by adding a packet of flavored gelatin to 16 ounces (oz.) of boiling water, stirring until it dissolves. Then pour in 6 oz. of cold water and 10 oz. of vodka – or really whatever kind of liquor you want – and add a small amount to the bottom of each cup or shot glass. If you want to add a sweet, creamy layer – like the ones in this Double Rainbow Cake Jelly Shot – you can add 2 tablespoons of condensed milk or yogurt to your gelatin mixture.
Let the first layer cool for a couple of hours – or until it jiggles – before adding your second flavor. Be sure to let each layer cool before adding your next, or else you won’t get the look you’re going for.
If you want to serve an array of jelly shots, you can also try these Bramble Jelly Shots, Sparkle Magic Jelly Shots or Espresso Martini Jelly Shots.
