With food, it’s sometimes all about the presentation.
The house has been cleaned, the apps are made and the drinks are chilled, but you’re not quite ready for guests to start rolling in until your appetizer table looks inviting and festive.
Oh, what’s that? You don’t know how to arrange a food table? Well, have a seat, because you’re about to get schooled.
First, gauge how much table space you need. If you’ve just got a few plates to present, a small card table should do the job. However, if there are crock pots and silverware involved, you may want to reserve the whole dining room table.
Using a tablecloth will save you from having to clean up too much later on. If you don’t have any, consider using a paper or plastic variety, or even go to your local thrift store to check out their goods – you might find some cool serving dishes and utensils there, too.
Once you’ve got a covered table in front of you, arrange your dishes so that the largest and highest pots and casseroles are toward the back of the table, and your smaller trays and bowls of goodies are near the front. For example, a slow cooker filled with Easy Spinach Artichoke Dip should be in the rear of the table, while these petite Tapenade Flatbread Appetizers should be in close reach.
Be sure that all of your apps have the right serving utensils in them or nearby. Additionally, you should have small plates, napkins and silverware on both ends of the table, especially if it’s large.
Now all you’ve got left is adding your own touch to the table. Arrange unscented flowers and candles, decorations and centerpieces however you like, just make sure that they’re not obstructing access to the main event – the food!
