Nothing says summer like biting into a fresh, juicy watermelon.
It’s one of nature’s most perfect foods because you don’t have to add anything to it to make it delicious! Well…unless you want to add some vodka. Which is what I highly suggest doing.
If you make your watermelon a vodka infused watermelon, it will be even more perfect. Perfectly boozy, that is.
Here’s what you need:
- One whole seedless watermelon
- One bottle (your choice on the size) vodka
- One large knife to cut into the watermelon
That’s it! You are now only a few steps (and a few days) away from your perfect boozy watermelon.
You’re going to need your watermelon to sit on its own in the fridge for a few days while it soaks in all the vodka goodness. To do this, cut out a very, very, very thin slice of the green shell so that it has a flat surface and can rest on it without wobbling. Don’t go down to the red flesh of the watermelon because that will leak out the watermelon as it infuses, which is a no-no.
Turn the watermelon over and cut out a circle, this time be sure to see the red part! NOTE: Save the watermelon “plug” so you can transport the watermelon if necessary!
At this point you can either stick a funnel in the hole and start pouring your vodka in, or, if you don’t have a funnel, just dig the a little deeper and pour the vodka in directly from the bottle. Don’t pour the whole thing in at once, do it a little at a time over a few hours or even a few days.
Once the entire bottle (or however much you would like) is poured in, let the watermelon sit in the fridge on the perfectly flat part that you so expertly cut! Let it sit for at least a full 24 or up to three days. You want the vodka to fully soak in!
When you’re ready to serve, cut into cubes or slices and prepare yourself for vodka-melon-y goodness. You can even cut tiny slices to use as garnish as you sip your vodka drink. Now that, my friends, is summertime!
