I only like one thing about camping – S’mores.

Camping was the only time growing up that we ever got them. Maybe because my mother was opposed to the idea of setting up a bonfire in the living room. All I know is that for something so simple, I sure did love them. Still do to this day.

Since I still can’t make a bonfire in my home, I had to find alternatives like this I Want S’mores Cake. All of the flavors are there – chocolate, grahams and marshmallows (toasted!). It’s in a way just as messy, but that’s half the fun. And you still get to (safely) set things on fire. All of that is a win for me!

The cake can be prepared a day ahead of time. But once you add the frosting, cereal, marshmallow creme, you will need to eat the cake that day – so keep that in mind.

Prepare the cake mix according to directions. Level off your cake and add a few scoops of frosting. I made my own frosting but to speed things up, you can also use Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting.

Spread the frosting out. Take the second layer and cut out a hole in the center of the cake. Don’t discard the middle portion that you removed, you will need that later. Place the cake ring on top of frosted cake layer.

Add Golden Grahams cereal. You may have to add more or take away depending on how big of a center hole you created. Pack the cereal in tightly. Leave about an  inch of space from the top.

Take the middle cake portion you cut out and cut about 1 inch off the thickness of the cake, so it will sit level on top of the Golden Grahams. Scoop and spread remaining frosting on the top of the cake only, not the sides.

In the microwave, heat the marshmallow creme until you can pour on top of the frosted cake. It will spread itself out. Using a culinary torch, toast the marshmallow top. If you do not have a culinary torch, just skip that part.

Hi @laurenh5123 – Marshmallow creme is usually found in jars in the baking aisle. It is a fluffier, spreadable version of marshmallows.

what do you recommend for “marshmallow creme”? is that like “fluff”? or something else?
