Pumpkins steal the show in the autumn months. They taste delicious, they are versatile and they look ultra-festive.
You can do so much with a pumpkin. Now add beer cooler to the list of amazing things you can make with a pumpkin – yep, a beer cooler! I saw this version of the pumpkin beer cooler online and I just had to try making one myself.
What’s more festive for an Oktoberfest gathering than keeping your brewskies ice cold inside a pumpkin cooler? I know, right! And it’s not hard either. If you’re carving up jack-o-lanterns, you might as well carve yourself up a beer cooler also. (Plus, it gives you an excuse to use a drill, which is always fun.)
Here’s the step-by-step!
First: Buy a ginormous pumpkin. You know, a pumpkin that’s so heavy, you can barely carry it from the car. With all the fall food you’re ingesting, burning a few extra cals won’t hurt ya. Using a carving knife, cut around the stem of the pumpkin and then remove the top. Scoop all the gooey insides out. Grab those seeds and make Crispy Pumpkin Seeds for a snack.
Using a pen, trace the bottom of a beer bottle directly on the pumpkin. Get out that drill! Use a circular drill bit, if you have one, or just use a standard bit and follow the traced lines and drill out the holes. If there isn’t enough room for the beer bottle to fit in the hole, you can extend the hole wider using a knife.
Fill the pumpkin cavity with lots o’ ice and stick in your beer for a fun party display!
Your pumpkin cooler will be THE talk of the town, so get yourself a pumpkin and get drilling!
