Four adorable ways to brighten up your holidays – one for each December holiday!

December has so much awesome holiday spirit – Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and just general winter cheer. Here are fun recipes to celebrate each one and guarantees smiles!

1. Christmas Lightbulb Cookies (by Hungry Happenings)

Christmas Light Cookies

Just their shape is cute! But don’t stop there, have even more fun by adding sweet smiles and silly eyes to Christmas Light Cookies. I took these to a holiday cookie swap and my friends went nuts over them. Each cookie looks as if it has a unique personality. Some look goofy, others a bit shy, and all look very happy and will add charm to any cookie platter for the holidays.

To decorate the light bulbs, I piped on frosting smiles using Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate frosting and added candy (royal icing) eyes that I bought at a cake decorating store. If you prefer, you can simply pipe round eyes using Betty Crocker Vanilla Frosting and add chocolate frosting dots for the pupils or make your own candy eyes by drawing pupils onto round white candies using a black food coloring marker. Get creative and have some fun.

Grab the ingredients. In a mixing bowl, stir together the sugar cookie mix and the flour. (NOTE: The package recipe says to add 1 tablespoon of flour, but with the addition of the wet food coloring, I added an extra tablespoon to ensure the light bulbs would look like light bulbs once baked.) Add the butter and mix to combine. Crack the egg, pour the egg into the bowl and mix until a soft dough forms, saving the egg shell for later.
