I’m going to be honest. I’m starting to have a little soft spot for football.
It’s like when you’re a kid and your mom makes you repeatedly eat something you don’t like. Eventually, you’ll develop a taste for it.
The athletic eye candy. The tension in the air. The party atmosphere. A reason to get together with friends. Trust me, I still have NO IDEA what’s happening on the field, but at least I’m trying, right?
This 3-year old gets it, for crying out loud!
This week, I’m going to try really, really hard. To make it more interesting, I’m going to have a snack off by squaring nom vs nom in a race to the very last bite. Will the city with the best treat also win the game?
1) Cincinnati vs. Houston
Cincinnati is known for it’s awesome 5-Way Chili, which is basically a way of building up and customizing your own bowl. We gave it another spin with this 5-Way Pizza. Huzzah! Pair that off against some Snappy Joes on Texas Toast and we’ve got a real competition on our hands. Houston, we have a problem.
2) Minnesota vs. Green Bay
This is a rivalry big enough that I know about it. Packers and Vikings in a play-off showdown? Come on, son. To throw down for Minnesota, whip up this Gone Fishing Chex Mix, an homage to the Land of 10,000 Lakes. For some Green Bay lovin’, dip into Cheese Fondue like a true Cheesehead.
3) Indianapolis vs. Baltimore
Indiana and corn pretty much go hand in hand, so dip your play-off wishes into this awesome Grilled Vegetable Salad. Pair that against Maryland’s renowned crabs with Impossibly Easy Mini Crab Cake Pies.
4) Seattle vs. Washington
Here’s a question: How are you supposed to choose? Is this just a city vs. state type of thing? Last time I checked, Seattle was part of Washington. For this game, pair an Iced Hazelnut Coffee Cooler for Seattle with these Ground Beef- and Corn-Topped Potato Skins, using Red Skin Potatoes for Washington.
