Russ and Anne and Hugh … who knew? They sing. And sing. And siiing. It’s a love it or hate it kinda thing. Some critics yammered, but audiences stampeded to the movie-theaters.
Whatever you think of the film adaptation of the acclaimed musical Les Mis, the French Sidecar Cocktail will get you through all 157 minutes of it.
Zero Dark Thirty
Kathryn Bigelow’s movie brings something interesting to the table – we know the ending, and yet we’re still on the edge of our seats while we watch the action unfold.
Controversy? Yah, it had plenty, especially before it opened. But the scenes were realistic and riveting, and they’ll make you grab for this Zero Dark Rum and Coke to calm the nerves afterwards.
Get Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson together and what’dya got? An Oscar nomination for Best Picture by famed director Quentin Tarantino, that’s what.
And a celebratory salute to the film doesn’t get any easier than opening a bottle of Unchained Naked Chardonnay. And that is all I’m going to say about that.
Sure, Ben Affleck is widely considered to have been snubbed by the Academy when he was passed over for a Best Director nomination. But he had his day – and his say — at the Critics’ Choice Awards when he won the title outright.
“I’d like to thank the Academy,” Ben said in his acceptance speech. [Loud laughter.] “I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” Truthfully, he’s taken it all in stride with no wailing or gnashing of teeth.
If you’re voting Argo, check out this Gentle Ben Cocktail — but be warned — just like Affleck’s win at the Critics’ Choice Awards, it’ll sneak up on ya!
Daniel Day-Lewis was probably more convincing as Lincoln than if Abe had come back and played himself.
Lincoln’s fave drink? Water. He was a coffee fan, too, but he didn’t imbibe in alcohol. (Is this how he made those decisive decisions?) We know that coffee was coveted by Civil War soldiers, and a quick internet search tells us that whiskey was also a popular spirit during those days.
So combine coffee and whiskey in this Irish Coffee recipe and enjoy the show!
